When trout fishing in a river or stream it is important to understand the behavior of the
Trout species.
Trout are very skittish and they tend to be spooked very easily; a shadow alone will send them scattering. The secret to successful fishing of trout is to know where they hide and live. Learn to read the river or stream where you are fishing. Trout love to hide under logs, rocks, fallen trees, and under the side banks of the river.
Scents are also important when angling for trout. You can use bait scents as well as garlic to mask the human element. Fishing early in the morning or late afternoon will produce the biggest catch. Trout like to eat bugs or flies that are indigenous to the area and they will bite on just about anything when they are provoked.
Natural baits work great with a traditional fishing pole such as salmon, eggs or worms. Try floating one of the two downstream from your location under a log, rock or tree and see what happens.
